~LEARNING~

2010:

What a year.

I don’t think I realize how BIG this year was until I really sit down and

reflect

on it’s happenings.

I think the most important gem I can take from it is

finding out who I really am.

1.  First and foremost, I love my children.  With every fiber of my being.

Not that I didn’t know this before, but this year, I OWN being a Mom.

No longer do I feel shame for choosing this “profession.”

2.  This year I learned that I adore my husband even more than I did last year.

He asks for nothing, but gives everything.

How is it possible that after 14 years he still puts up with all my shenanigans??

3.  I learned that I love to surround myself with STRONG, confident, beautiful (on the inside) women.

They push me, pull me and and make me better than I was before.

*I hope you all know who you are*

4.  I learned from Rachelle how to be a better friend.

She taught me that giving doesn’t make you a good friend if you can’t also receive.

(This is a tough one to swallow if you are like me and get squirmy when someone tries to bestow kindness upon you.)

Lastly:

I learned that life is precious.

It is NOT to be taken for granted.

Give smiles.  Give hugs.  Give forgiveness.

Most of all, Give LOVE.

Here is my final project of the year.

For my friend Val, her courageous husband Wayne and her 2 most precious “chickens”.

Much love.

I will never have the words to adequately convey just what this video means to me.

You created, with your incredible eye and genius, the one holiday I will cherish for all my days – documentation of our last Christmas.

I love who you are. I love the friendship you give. I love the idea of being your friend forever and always.

Thank you, sweet Jami. For giving me something to hold onto. To watch. To watch again.

Because you know I will. Always.

XOXO.

wow. I was already in a sad state after just posting about Jonathan on my blog the other day, and then I saw this and CRIED. The live questions answered by Wayne were a swift kick directly to my heart. Incredibly powerful and beautiful. I had a list of interview questions for Jonathan, and it was going to be my next day spent with him, but a “next day” never came. This little movie is nothing short of incredible. Great job.

Fantastic! It’s looking like you’re headed the video route! Well put together! Very beautiful!

A beautiful gift for a beautiful family. You are nothing short of amazing. incredibly caring and giving spirit are nothing short of amazing.
As for your 2010.
I love your reflection.
I have been blessed with your friendship for 20 years, so apparantly I didn’t feel you needed to be ‘taught’ anything. You are more than a better friend…you are the best friend.
Love you and Happy New Year!

I really need to learn to edit my thoughts…wishing there was an option to revise comments.

“Your inredibly caring and giving spirit is nothing short of amazing”…

Beautiful. You don’t know me, but I’ve been following your blog as well as you friend Val’s. You both are so inspiring.

You’ve inspired me to attempt to be more creative! I was wondering if you would mind telling me what kind of camera you use for video?

Jami - January 4, 2011 - 3:26 pm

Hi Carissa. Thanks for your kind words. I am lucky to have so many amazing women in my life who have inspired me as well.
The only camera I use for video is my Canon 5d Mark ii. It’s a little more difficult than a regular video camera, but so much fun and much more creative. Please don’t ever hesitate to ask a question. It’s how we learn. Thanks again!

Carissa - January 5, 2011 - 6:25 am

Thanks Jami! I thought you may be using a camera. My dad is/was (retired basically) photographer, so I know a little. I was using a 20d before it became too outdated. We just replaced it with a Rebel. It has video, but not as good as your 5d of course! What I find so hard is the fact you have to constantly focus. Guess I just need to practice more!

Your family is so beautiful and I hope you don’t mind that I follow your blog. I get goosebumps when I read some of your entries as well as Val’s. Thanks again!

P.S. I saw Cache’s photo on the MJ facebook page last night. She must have totally rocked that photo shoot! She is just darling!

Jami - January 5, 2011 - 9:39 am

Yeah Carissa, the 5d is a complete pain to focus and shoot with, but worth it. I have so much to learn, but can’t find anyone to teach me. I’m still searching.
Do you blog? Would love to follow yours if you do.
Hugs to you, girl.

Carissa - January 5, 2011 - 11:34 am

I blog, but no way near as good as you! I’m an auditor/accountant so most of us of that type tend to lack the creative gene! I started blogging when I was pregnant with my baby…something to keep friends and family updated.

My blog is http://www.awonderfulwegnerlife.blogspot.com. Enjoy!

Hugs back at ya!

What a wonderful gift! My thoughts and prayers are with Val and her family. I am so grateful for blogs like yours that inspire me and others in so many ways.
My husband tried to convince me to go with Canon instead of Nikon – but I didn’t listen. I may have to switch after seeing your pictures and videos :)
