I have tried blogging this post for days now and just can’t quite seem to do it justice.
Therefore I will be doing it in several parts.
There are just too many parts and too many people that made last weekend so incredible for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me set the stage:
8 months ago I sent a crazy email to Matt and Katie in Toowoomba, Australia asking Matt to mentor me in video/cinematography.
You see, I found his Vimeo site years ago and my love for moving footage hasn’t been the same since.
I was in love. I was inspired. I was in need of a trip to Australia.
Fast forward 6 months to the day I FINALLY received a reply.
To say I had given up would be an understatement.
But it doesn’t take this little cowgirl long to jump back in the saddle and scream with absolute elation!!
I love a challenge and I love big dreams.
I think Matt and Katie do too.
They had agreed to make the 28 hour trip to Colorado. ”Why not?” they said. ”It could be fun.”
So.
We skyped, we planned, we prepared for a workshop that would attract 14 of the most awesome ladies/photographers I have met in a long time.
All of them hungry to learn and eager to better their craft.
It was a success.
The incredibly talented Robin at Toast, dazzled up our dining areas and sparkled up my home in a matter of minutes.
From mismatched china to dozens of glowing candles, we nestled in for a fun day of learning and eating.
She’s good. I mean, real good!
Cat and Vanessa of Cat Mayer Studio, man I love these girls; gathered up some incredible models who worked their stuff for hours.
Our models were not only adorable, in love, and joyful, but they were up for anything.
I can’t thank them enough.
(The adorable Vanessa)
Thank you, Dana, who came all the way from Atlanta, GA to learn and grow and help me slice and dice.
Check out her blog for fun ideas and thoughts on being the best YOU.
This is the part where I want to gush about the incredible week I spent with these two Australians.
The ease in which they move through life making everyone around feel comfortable is a gift.
A gift that I feel lucky to have been a part of.
Let me leave you with a quote that is now a banner over my head:
“If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”
I think about if I hadn’t written that crazy email so many months ago.
How sad for me, right?
A world without Matt and Katie is a sad world indeed.
Ohhh how I wish I could have joined y’all!! I too found Matt and Katie on Vimeo and fell in love with their work! Can’t wait to see more from your fabulous workshop!!
Everything looks so beautiful! Oh, how I wish I could have been there! So proud of you for going for it and making it happen!
What a dream come true for you. Gives me such a thrill to know that you are the kind of woman who has a dream and then has the ability to MAKE IT COME TRUE. You talk about the women that surround you and how you are inspired by them. I bet each one would have Jami Davis straight out of their mouths if asked the same question.
I miss your house. I miss your hostessing skills. I miss just plain miss YOU.
HOLY HELL! That dress is AMAZING!!!!!!
Love your dreams. Thanks to you I have two new Aussie friends!! xo
Oh and Susie…. Love your comment!! xo
[...] First and foremost, my weekend in Colorado would have never happened if it weren’t for the kindness and hospitality of one, Jami Davis. [...]
