I think I haven’t shared until now, because I didn’t have the right words. For at least a week after my return, my emotional roller coaster took loops and dives that nearly derailed me on several occasions. Hours after coming home, I could still feel their little hands in mine. For days, I could hear the ringing of their songs in my ears. Now, weeks later, I still see those eyes. Those deep chocolate catacombs that no more let you in, than keep you out. They tell stories that make you laugh, cry or quake. All without breathing a word.

I think this may be the beauty of Africa. Well, the beauty for me anyways. For everyone, it’s different. My journey to Africa was like a slap upside the head with a fist full of Wake the {BLEEP} Up!!! (You can fill in the blank.) Now, maybe the rest of my comrades weren’t as numb to the senses as I was, but I was forced to look inside myself OVER and OVER and OVER! As a result, I can see it, I can smell it, I can taste it, I can hear it, but most of all I can feel it in the depths of my soul that we are meant to do great things with the life we’ve been given. All of us.

I needed Africa like a flame needs a spark. Like honey needs a bee. I needed Africa more than it needed me.

What can I say about this family, besides they are warm,

generous, kind, loving and

hilarious!

Duane and Janet have raised boys who love their mother and

have the utmost respect for their father.

It’s plain to see they are a family full of laughter.

A family full of love.

What an honor to spend the evening with these four.

Lacey and the Boys

It’s easy to see how one could fall in love with Mathias.

It’s not just those piercing blue eyes that seem to see right through you,

but the way in which this family moves like one single

organism.

Solid as a rock and tethered to this one and only boy

who has touched the lives of many.

Spend an afternoon with these three and you’ll witness

smiles and laughter.

Collisions of hugs and kisses explode at any moment.

This is how Lacey and her boys move through this world.

Tightly woven in their world of big love.

What an honor to witness it.

I can’t say enough about the King family.

Sheri and Kevin are as loving and thoughtful as they come and

it shows in how they raise their children.

Beautiful kids on the inside and out!

Family portraits were especially important this year as Mackenzie turns 16 and

oh, what a special year that is.

Brouillette Boys

What an honor it was to photograph these 2 boys the other night.

They come from a long line of talent and success, not to mention

the most incredible blue’s I’ve EVER seen.

Yes, they really ARE this gorgeous in real life.

I see these boys doing big things and making their parents proud.

I can’t believe I met Nate and Lena in college the same year I fell in love with my husband.

These two have been going strong, chasing after their dreams

of Law and Orthodontics for over 12 years now and

I have no doubt their gorgeous babes will follow in their footsteps of

hard work and determination.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to travel to Denver and meet this wonderfully blended, gorgeous family for their annual portraits.

They were fun and in love and just an all around fabulous time.
